About MyCare

What is MyCare?
MyCare is an Internet Application that supports patient access to portions of the electronic medical record, electronic communications and other online services. At the present time, MyCare provides health information and access to your, or your minor childrenís, immunization history. Additional online services are under development. This service is available to Gundersen Lutheran patients age 18 and over.

MyCare is not to be used in an emergency. If you have a medical emergency, please dial 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.

How soon can I login to my account?
To ensure the security of your records, your password will be created and mailed to the address we have on file. It will take approximately 3-5 days for you to receive the letter via US Mail. You may receive your login immediately if you visit one of our onsite libraries in La Crosse and Onalaska campuses.

What can I do with MyCare?
Currently you can:

  • View your Immunization history
  • View the Immunization history of your dependent children (under age 17)
  • Refill Prescriptions filled at any of the Gundersen Lutheran Pharmacies
  • View Health and disease information
In the future, you will be able to:
  • Contact your Care Team here at Gundersen Lutheran
  • Schedule an Appointment
  • View your Scheduled and Previous appointments
  • And more...

Can I register my Dependents
While registering yourself, you are able to register any dependents age 17 and under. You cannot register dependents over the age of 17. When your dependents reach 18 years of age, their records will no longer display within your account. However, they can sign up for a MyCare account of their own at that time.

Where does the information originate?
The information you are viewing is the same electronic medical record that your Gundersen Lutheran physician uses. The information is stored on a secure server behind our Internet firewall.

Accessing MyCare

What do I need to use MyCare?

  • Web browser capable of supporting strong U.S. encryption (128-bit)
  • Your web browser must have Javascript and Cookies enabled
In order to provide you a higher level of service and security, we are requiring that all customers visiting mycare.gundluth.org utilize a browser capable of 128-bit encryption strength. Browsers that support 128-bit encryption provide the strongest protection when transmitting confidential data over the Internet.

You can test your browsers encryption strength with this link, which will open a webpage at Verisign (the publisher of our encryption certificate) in a new window. When you are finished testing, close that window to return to this page.

If you do not currently use a 128-bit browser, you can download a compliant browser from one of the following locations:

Sometimes I can't get to the site, why?
Make sure you are not typing 'www' to begin the URL. The correct address is: https://mycare.gundluth.org/

What if I forget my username?
If you have forgotten your username, please use the "Contact Us" link and send us a message. We will send a letter with your userid to the address that we have on file for you. We do this to ensure your the privacy of your records.

What if I forget my password?
If you have been using MyCare, then you can use the "forgot your password?" link on the main login page. Click the link, then enter your userid and the answer to the challange question. If both fields are correct, you will be able to reset your password. This change will take effect immediately.

If you have never signed in to MyCare, you will need to use the "Contact Us" link and send us a message. We will send a letter with a new password to the address that we have on file for you. We do this to ensure your the privacy of your records.

MyCare Security

How secure is MyCare?
Keeping your online experience safe and secure is Gundersen Lutheran's highest priority. We are serious about protecting your privacy and the security of your personal health information (PHI). In addition to our confidentiality policies which protect access and use of information by Gundersen Lutheran staff, we also protect your Personal Health Information in the following ways:

  • All of our systems are located in a secured access data center.
  • Your Personal Health Information is stored in our electronic medical record, protected from the Internet by a firewall.
  • We use 128-bit Secure Socket Layer encryption to protect your information as it travels between your computer and ours.
  • We have disabled the caching of data in your Browser while at MyCare, forcing the web pages to expire immediately and preventing another user from viewing pages that you had previously viewed.
  • After a period of inactivity, your session with our server will time out. You will need to log back in to continue viewing your records.

Our goal is to keep your information safe. When you fill out the enrollment form or provide personal information, you transmit this information to Gundersen Lutheran via the Internet. Accessing your MyCare account online also involves transmitting information over the Internet between your computer and computers at Gundersen Lutheran.

All communications between you and Gundersen Lutheran using MyCare are carried over a secure encrypted connection. This secure connection utilizes industry standard Secure Socket Layer (SSL) 128-bit encryption as well as server-side digital certificate authentications to protect your personal information so that it cannot be read as it travels over the Internet. What is encryption?
Encryption helps protect your private information so that a third party cannot read it. Encryption is the scrambling of information for online transmissions back and forth between two points.

Why does Gundersen Lutheran require 128-bit encryption?
The effectiveness, or level of security, for encryption is measured in terms of bits. 128-bit encryption is the highest available and most secure.

Browsers that support 128-bit encryption provide the strongest protection when transmitting confidential data over the Internet.

How can I be sure that no one else is looking at my medical information?
You assign your own user ID and a password is sent to you via US Mail. We do not keep records of your user ID. You may change your password at any time. You should not share this information with anyone else. Do keep in mind that medical staff at the clinic may have to access your record from time to time to update information. In addition, All communications between you and Gundersen Lutheran using MyCare are carried over a secure encrypted connection. See the detailed explainations about security above.

MyCare Proxy Access

What is proxy access?
Proxy access provides both Gundersen Lutheran and Non-Gundersen Lutheran patients with the ability to view the personal health information of their spouses, parents, etc. via MyCare with signed authorization.

How do I give authorized access to another person?
If you have a MyCare account, once signed in, go to My Account and select Proxy Access. You are able to fill out information on whom you would like to give access to your medical record in MyCare. A letter will go to you and the person you have authorized alerting each person of the access granted. Authorization can be granted for up to two years. After that point another authorization form will need to be completed.

If you do not have a MyCare account you can fill out the MyCare Adult Access (for ages 18-older) form. The completed form will need to be returned to our Release of Information department in the basement of the Founders Building.

If you would like to have full access to your dependant that is age 12-17, you will need to fill out the MyCare Minor Access (For ages 12-17). The completed form will need to be returned to our Release of Information department in the basement of the Founders Building.

How soon can I pick up a prescription after Iíve requested a refill online?
We will make every effort to fill your prescription request within one business day.

Contact Lens Refills
MyCare now provides the ability to order your current prescription of contacts. Log into MyCare and select Refills then Contact Lenses on the left hand menu. Fill out the necessary information. Communication about your order will be sent to your personal email address. Be sure to update your personal email address to receive alerts.
