Go meatless. Vegetarian or meatless meals are not only healthy for your heart and waistline, but wallet-friendly too. Use beans, nuts, seeds or soy products (tofu, tempeh, texturized vegetable protein) in place of meat in nearly any recipe. The key is to go meatless but not protein less. If you prefer using meat, try using half as much. For example, if making tacos, use a 1/2 pound of ground beef and a 1/2 can of black beans plus the usual seasonings.
