However, when consumed in excess, caffeine causes interrupted sleep, appetite changes, irritability and irregular heartbeat. Keep caffeine intake to 300 mg per day (16 oz. of coffee, 24 oz. tea, 48 oz. soda, 8-16 oz. energy drink).
